Two Questions

Hi all,

It's that time again! I have a new computer (a laptop this time), and I'm in the process of setting it up. So far, I've run into two issues with which I'm hoping someone on here will be able to assist me. Firstly, I'm running JAWS 13 which, like my other version of JAWS, is set by default to automatically put you in a form field without you having to press enter. Personally, I don't care for this setting, but I can't remember, and haven't been able to find, the means to turn it off. Secondly, I currently have three other items besides JAWS in my taskbar at startup. I'd like it to be only JAWS, as it is on my desktop, but I don't know how to fix it. Any help with either of these matters would be appreciated!

Namaste,
Becky

I can at least help with the first one. Hit insert F2, and arrow down to where it says configuration manager, and press enter. When it brings that up, hit control shift D to make sure it runs as the default configuration manager. Hit your alt key, then right arrow to where it says set options. Arrow down to, "forms mode" options, and it's in there. When you've changed it to what you want, press Control S to save, then Alt F4 out of the manager.

For the second to remove things from your task bar simply press applications key arrow to remove this program and hit inter. Now remember with Windows 7 as you run programs they will show.
To put a program on the desktop to to all programs, arrow to the one you want, hit the applications key, arrow up to send to, right arrow, than go up or down to desktop hit inter.

As per the jaws13, you have hit settings centre.

hit insert plus f2, hit enter on settings centre, after opening that, hit control shift d for default and then you can fix whatever you want and come out of it.

Note: in the newer versions of jaws, the settings centre will be as a tree view. don't get confused.

Thanks guys! I fixed the first issue, but when I tried to fix the second, I discovered that what I thought was my Applications key doesn't appear to be working. Is there any reason why this might be? I mean, this is a brand new laptop. Or is the applications key located in a different place on laptops?

hahaha wow. But you forgot to mention which branded laptop that is.

I was suffering with the same problem after purchasing my dell inspiron laptop. But I was aware shift plus f10 is always an alternate for the application key. So I'm depending upon that keystroke since there's no any application key with my laptop.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, mine's a Dell also. And that shift f10 keystroke fixed the problem! Thanks Raajy!

Yes, I should have suggested that in case. My 14Z Dell laptop has an application key, but I have a Logetech wireless keyboard that doesn't, so.
